The earthquake was very - hmmm... which word - ah: exciting, freaky, amazing, and WOW!! After the first one (12:51 on Tuesday the 22nd of February 2011), the school earthquake bell rang. Everyone lined up in front of the teacher and we went out on the Field. After a while, everyone was walking back to the classrooms when suddenly -
rumble rumble - everyone quickly crouched down on the ground for the second, almost as bad shake. Most of the girls were crying, though me, Sam (Samantha), Eileen, Alannah and Inan were not.
I saw some of our class on the courts, so me and Alannah went there. By now many of the parents had come to pick their kids up, and I went home to find a very scared cat. We did not have electricity until about 6, though we did have water. One of mum's work friends called Joanna, who lived at Pigeon Bay on Banks Peninsula with a big dog named Luca and 3 chickens had to stay at our house for a few hours before she went home because her car keys, laptop, and money was in her office at the university. When our power came back, we were able to watch TV, and we were horrified to see what had happened to our beloved Christchurch. Now, a day after the new 6.3 earthquake, there are still many many aftershocks.
I believe Christchurch will never be the same ever again.
